Athlete Information Guide

 RACE 1  - 16/8/20

 

  • LONG COURSE  - 5km Run, 20km Bike, 2.5km Run

  • SHORT COURSE - 2.5km Run, 10km Bike, 1.25 km Run

State Champs will be crowned in all age group and open categories, athletes must be a current member if Triathlon Australia to receive an award.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

LONG COURSE 

The race will begin with a 5km run which will be 2x 2.5km laps out over the pedestrian bridge, keeping to the left of the path, there will be an aid station on the run course, athletes will be encouraged to pick the cups of water ups themselves to reduce contact with volunteers.

Once the two lap run is complete athletes will run into transition where they will head out on a 4 lap 20km bike ride. Heading out of the venue over the car bridge and turning left onto the event path. When coming to the completion of the 4th lap athletes them turn left on the car bridge and into transition and then head out for the 1 lap 2.5km final run to the finish line.

We are working closely with Venues and Stakeholders to ensure a safe return to racing, as the situation is changing constantly we will update information as it comes to hand.

COVID - 19 has changed race day procedures for the future, small adjustments will have to be made by athletes, volunteers, race organisers, spectators and race venues, but we are all working hard to put forward the best race experience possible.

Entries to the race will open July 1st and will be fully refundable if the event is cancelled due to COVID 19.

COURSE MAPS

There will be no road closures for the race, the bike will be 4 laps of the event path for long course and 2 laps for short course.

GENERAL RACE INFORMATION

  • Medals will be awarded to first three in each of the categories male and female of the Long Course and short course races. 

  • Timing - will be Webscorer, so no race splits will be available just and overall time.

RACE DAY COMPETITION RULES    

  • Drafting is not permitted, a gap of 7 meters must be kept at all times 

  • No passing on the left at all.
